That was the second worst thing that I have had to go through this year after DKs arrival just a couple of months ago.
After an early and rather stressful meeting this morning, MK, DK and I went to the hospital at 11:00. His casts were removed and some anaesthetic plasters were applied to his heels that took the edge off the local anaesthetic that was administered a little while later.
After lunch the doctors scrubbed up and got on with the operation which oddly we sat in as well, holding DKs hands.
They made small incisions on the back of each heel and apparently cut the sides of his Achilles tendons and then stretched his feet up to stretch them. After stitching him up, he was put back in casts and sent home. What I haven't mentioned is that he screamed blue murder throughout the process and it was more than a little emotionally draining. All of this parenting can be quite tiring at times, but the good part of the day is that DK's legs now look like a pretty normal shape under the plaster casts
So glad its over anyway - he looks great in the photo! what stage was that at?
ReplyDeleteI guess his lungs got a workout.
I can't wait to meet him at Christmas!
wrm
The pictures were both taken last night. He settled down in the evening after a little panodol and a lot of hugs.
ReplyDeleteApparently he had a good night and seems to be fine this morning
