Having tried a red one on Sunday, we went to a local Mazda dealer yo try a 2.3 litre version instead. It was much nicer to drive - smoother, quieter and faster. Hmmm. It is also cheaper and comes with a set of winter tyres which will no doubt save us some cash come November.
I think we'll probably buy this one.
I suspect I may get a few comments along the lines of buy a Honda or a Toyota, my answer is the Honda's are fairly rare in Denmark and therefore difficult to track down and there is no local dealer at all. Toyota's fetch a very large premium and we would have to invest twice as much to get an equivalent to the Toyota. The Mazda seems like a good deal and we both like the car.
Now I am hoping to plan a trip for my birthday to take the boys somewhere for a night, possibly Berlin or maybe somewhere a little closer to home like Gothenburg.
How about fuel efficiency? Is the 2.0 more efficient than the 2.3 and thus the price difference?

Apparently the figures are the same in l/100km and the combined miles per gallon (urban and motorway driving) is 34mpg for the 2.3 litre and 35 pmg for the 2.0 litre so there is little difference. The 2.0 that i looked at was more expensive because it was regisetered in 2006 (this is 2005) and it had DVD player built in with screens in the back of the headrests.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Honda or a Toymotor ?
ReplyDeleteHave you consulted cyclist stan ?
ReplyDeleteHad a mazda once remember? not that excited about it but at least it is Japanese instead of these silly Swedish things or French ones!

It's a used car - albeit an expensive onein DK. If it has FSH, a decent warranty, not too many kms and you like it then, remembering that there is always another car and a deal to be done re your desirable Pug. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteMazda & Ford have a lot of models/technology in common so it is hardly a marginal marque.
GBN
it has an FSH, GSOH and all mod cons.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like a good buy! L's parents have been driving 2 Mazdas and they have both been very comfortable, reliable cars...
ReplyDeleteWe will be happy to join a farewell party for the old one :-)
Autumn regards (hope you are not biking to work today),

Does it have Vra Vra Vroom ? Owners of french cars know that like themselves the car objects to water but loves whine. With a Mazda at least you won't have to replace the bulbs so often...as the older ones of us might remember "Mazda bulbs stay brighter longer.. always ask for Mazda."
ReplyDeletewhat is FSH GSOH and pug?
ReplyDeleteI guess I am way out of it!
DK has such big eyes!
WRM
