Where's this going?

Last night we met with the estate agent to talk about the value of the house and selling it. I really don't like estate agents. They all seem to have the same hair cut and glasses and they all seem to be slimy so and sos.

Anyway, we seem to have made a reasonable return on our house over the last 6 years but we are not 100% convinced about moving. We obviously need to sell this house before we can buy something else and we haven't seen anything that we really want yet so the enthusiasm is starting to fade a little. On the plus side, it is cheap to borrow money at the moment, we can get a 3.5% to 4% fixed rate for 30 years at the moment and it seems that the market for bigger houses is rather weak so we could get a pretty good deal on a bigger house whilst not doing too badly selling our own. On the other hand, we will have to spend a fortune on actually selling, buying and moving and in the end we are bound to end up with a bigger mortgage to pay each month.

I suppose we just need to chew it over for a week or so and see if there are any houses that get us sufficiently excited to justify the upheaval.
I do have a feeling that we are going to rather like this one on Sunday though...

Gorgeous house! but, trust one who knows, you would regret the pool. Gets full of leaves, expensive chemicals constantly out of their complicated balance, need to vacuum the bottom every week, it freezes, the pump and filter break down. If you want to heat it it will cost more than the house to heat and all for a month or two of summer. If you don't heat it then it will always be too cold for comfort - at least for the kids.
You could put a roof like that on your current house and have those nice skylight lit bedrooms and a bathroom up there.

  2. I'm pretty sure the pool won't even have a heater and they don't care about the cold as much as adult. I am more worried about the safety of it than anything else.
As for our house, we can't do that to the roof, the architect told us it would be a crazy thing to do. We haven't been in yet, but it does look nice. I suspect there aren't enough rooms though.

It looks a bit white, even for the Danes.

Pool will make a good rink in the winter ice hockey or skating!

Instead of a pool, spend 20 quid per week going to a bigger and better pool in the town- and throw 100 quid a week into a hole in the ground- a similar financial situation to having your own pool!

    I love Beng's cold-hearted, engineer's approach to lifestyle decisions.
He should become a consultant - such decisions should always be made with the head, not the heart.

  8. What's that between the outside and the inside?

    Is it a door?
