Lots going on

Yesterday MK and DK were detained in the hospital in CPH for the whole day because there seemed to be some problems with his bowel that was stopping the doctors getting a tube up there to flush him out. In the end it turned out to be just an incompetent nurse, but it had us worried that MK and DK wouldn't be able to go to Manchester today for another appointment.

I have just heard that DKs feet are fabulous and the dynamic duo are off to do the shops in Manchester for the remainder of the afternoon before flying home again later this evening. It will have been a long day for them both.

J and I are going to have a boys evening. Maybe going for a short bike ride in the dark if the rain ever stops and probably eating some pizza at some point.

Great to hear about DK's feet!
Are you going to make the pizza for the boys evening? Have a great time!

'Incompetence' seems to be fairly standard. At what point do you complain?

Delighted that DK's bowel & feet are brill.
I'm sorry that we didn't get to Manchester to meet MK - I thought that she was only here for a bit.
Actually, we didn't get out until 11.00am & we may have been an expensive nuisance.
    Love to you all,
    m & aj

  5. At some point we will make a complaint about the feet, but it is difficult to complain about things like the bowel, all we had to do was wait and to some extent the government is paying for MKs time as they are paying her sallary whilst she is on maternity leave and looking after DK. We are both still really worried that the surgeon doing the bowel operation is good enough for the job. We have no reason to assume that she is not, other than our experience with the feet. The cleft palate operation seems to have been OK to so we have a 50% hit rate so far...
There are a lot of discussions in Denmark at the moment about why life expectancy is so low here, one of the factors seems to be an expensive, but ultimately not very good health service.

It's not a money issue really. All you are expecting is a quality/ competence level appropriate to the task in hand.
Life expectancy is a much more complex issue diet, genetics, etc having great influence.
The current issue is surely a much narrower one. In UK Surgeons no ware required to publish success rates which has apparently thrown up all sorts of interesting differences. Not for me to comment further - your country, your son and your issue. Hope you can resolve and that all goes well fore dk.
