What's in the kit bag?

There is a good chance that I am romanticising my childhood, but when I think about the equipment that was required for various sports 30 years ago, the list of specialist clothing and equipment for most sports seemed to be limited to trainers or football boots.

I don't remember having indoor and outdoor trainers, I don't think I owned any kind of helmet and my sailing gear was limited to a waterproof and a life jacket for most of the year.

These days one can't ride a bike without special shoes, a complete change of clothes and a helmet that costs more than a kids bike.

I fear (as MK has already foreseen) that my predictions of not needing any extra sailing gear on the grounds that I have a wetsuit and a life jacket may well prove to be incorrect.

This is what Gil Marine think you need for all weather sailing:

At least there isn't a sailing helmet yet!

Let me guess, this Gil Marine sells sailing gear.
When you were young people had less disposible income, that's why nobody made all that stuff - few people would have bought it.
